Set up Auto Shut-Off for PlayStation 3

December 7th 2008 15:48
Video games are found in so many households now that it is important that everyone is aware of how much energy they really use. I mean, it's not something you typically think about but your console really does use a lot of energy.

Now, if you have a PlayStation 3, you have the least energy efficient gaming console that it currently on the market, so you want to make sure that you consider all of the energy efficient things that you can in order to make sure that you are not spending over a hundred dollars a year just to play your playstation, not to mention the games you'll rent or buy, and any other factors that will involve how much money you'll spend throughout the year playing your PlayStation 3.

A few things that you want to do is to 1) make sure that you know how to set your PS3 so that it automatically turns off after it has been idle for a certain amount of time and 2) use a Blu-Ray DVD player instead of your PS3 to play DVDs.

By setting up your PlayStation to automatically shut off after 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 hours of being idle you will save so much money each year on your power bill. If you still live at home or you live with someone else who pays the bill, be considerate and turn it off even though you don't pay the bill.

Just make sure that you save your game as frequently as you can while you are playing, and definitely make sure to save it before you leave the game up while not playing.
