Wii MotionPlus Remote Attachment

April 8th 2009 23:44
The Nintendo Wii MotionPlus is an accessory attachment for the Wiimote control. The attachment connects to the bottome of the remote and traces motion in a 3D space so that you can better control the remote.

The MotionPlus attachment helps define your motion control by accurately reflecting your motions in the 3D space. It better tracks your arm position and orientation when used in combination with the sensor bar and the accelerometer.

When you make even slight movements to your arm or wrist, the MotionPlus attachment will be able to note changes on the screen.

The Wii accessory is suppose to make gaming more intuitive

It's actually thought by some that because it is very sensitive to your movement, that it can be a bad thing, and possibly even detrimental to gaming pleasures because a small inconsistency in your hand can can replicated with absolute precision within the game and on screen, causing it to be slightly user unfriendly.

The accessory is going to be released sometime this spring of 2009.

For $35, you can pre-order the two pound Riiflex weights for your Nintentdo Wii,or $40 for the four pound dumbbells. Basically, the Wii weights are supposed to add resistance to your Wii and Wii Fit workouts, but you can use the Riiflex dumbbell with any game. They're meant to just add some resistance to your game.

The weights combine durability of fitness gear with a cool innovative design to fit your Wii remote and Nunchuck. The Riiflex dumbbells have an ergonomic grip for secure control throughout the broad range of motions.

You get two dumbbells with every purchase.

The Riiflex dumbbells will be shipped out during the summer of 2009.

Nintendo's Educational Side

March 28th 2009 17:16
Nintendo is working on entering the education arena, which is a pretty interesting and neat concept considering they've been in the gaming arena for years... But, you'll find that they aren't getting out of gaming considering that what they're doing is creating educational video games.

Nintendo filed the patent with the US Patent and Trademark Office, which tells a tale of an educational future aimed at young children between the age of toddlers and pre-kindergartners, and/or people with disabilities.

The patent includes various ideas including those of matching sounds with pictures and daily chores. Nintendo will include some of the favorite Nintendo characters such as Mario, as well as famous television characters such as Dora the Explorer and Bob the Builder.

But, remember that even though the patent has been filed, it doesn't meant that any of these plans will ever see the light of day. It's just an interesting idea that Nintendo is working on. Personally, I think it's a great idea being the older sister of a younger handicapped sibling.

Here are a few pictures that have been released with the patent.

How to Buy Wii Points

January 1st 2009 11:06

So, you need 500 Wii points in order to get access to the Internet Channel, to begin with, but once you're in the Internet Channel, you need more Wii Points in order to download the features and any WiiWare games that you want. There are essentially two different ways to purchase Wii Points so that you can get these downloads, and below, you'll find the instructions for purchasing Wii Points viat the Wii Shop Channel and redeeming a Wii Point Card.

Purchase Wii Points through the Wii Shop Channel
You can use your Wii console and purchase your Wii points via the Wii Shop Channel. You'll need to have your Visa or Mastercard ready. (The Wii Shop Channel is on a secure server, so your information will be safe.)
  • Access the Wii Shop Channel throught the console menu; if this is your first time accessing the channel, you will need to agree to the User Agreement, and then click 'Okay' after reading the description.
  • Select 'Start Shopping' once you are at the Welcome screen in the Shop Channel.
  • Click the 'Add Wii Points'
  • Select 'Buy Wii Points with a Credit Card'
  • Now, select how many Wii Points you want to purchase. There is a maximum number of Points that you can have on the console, so be aware of that.
  • Select your credit card typ- Visa or Mastercard.
  • Enter in the information that is asked- the credit card number, expiration date, and security code. Then select 'Ok' when you have everything entered.
  • Now, enter the next set of information- city, state, zip, and county, and select 'okay.' Make sure not to include any punctuation into the street, city, or country fields (St. is bad, you want to just have St)
  • Review your purchase on the confirmation screen and if everything is accurate, click 'yes.'
  • After the purchase is processed, a confirmation screen will appear indicating that you purchased Wii Points and that they have been added to your Wii Shop account.

Purchase a Wii Points Card at a Retailer
There are participating retail stores that sell Nintendo products and Wii Point cards. Basically, all you have to do is pick the amount of Wii Points that you want and you just purchase the card with the retailer. In order to redeem a Wii Point Card, follow the following steps.
  • Select 'Redeem Wii Points Card'
  • Now, on the back of your Wii Points Card, scratch off the silver area on the back of the card, in order to reveal your activation number
  • Enter the activation code on the screen and click 'ok' in order to continue
  • Select 'Redeem' in order to redeem the card
  • Once the process is completed, a confirmation screen will appear indicating that you purchased Wii Points and that they have been added to your Wii Shop account.

For the most part, you will find that it's $1.00 USD per every 100 Wii Point. You can purchase 2,000 points for $20 in the USA, €20 in Europe, £14.99 in the UK, and AU$35 in Australia. At participating retail stores, you will usually be able to find 1,000, 2,000, 3,000, and 5,000 Wii Point cards.

    Wii Internet Channel

    December 31st 2008 15:46
When compared to the xBox 360 and PlayStation 3, the Wii's internet channel is just not quite as advanced as it could be. In time, I only hope that we will be able to play with gamers in other cities, states, and countries. I mean, I can kick some major butt playing the computer at Tennis with the Wii Sports pack, I only wish that I could play someone other than the computer and people in my house. You know, spice it up a bit...

But, with the current Wii internet channel, it's well... Blah
