Next Gen Wars

For those interested, www.nexgenwars.com is a site devoted to following Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft's struggle to win gamers' cash. It features a snazzy ticker which displays how many PS3s, Xbox 360s and Wiis have been sold. Of course, these are estimates, but are updated as regularly as possible. As of today, here are the figures:
Xbox 360 - 7,236,707
Sony Playstation - 270,336
Nintendo Wii - 719,729
Now it must be noted that there are nowhere near as many PS3s available as there are Wiis. The Wii is also over less than half the price of the PS3 in the states. But still, that's a big difference in sales. Unfortunately for Sony, a lot of people have been unimpressed with the new PS3. Sony claimed it would do a lot of things, but unfortunately it still has a way to go. Hopefully firmware updates will come along not too far down the track, but it's definitely a worry at this early stage.
It's a different story altogether for Nintendo. The Wii has already been more of a success than most people thought possible. Perhaps the dark days of the Gamecube are finally behind the Japanese giant.
