Leading Ladies in Video Games
October 19th 2008 19:04
Okay, so we hear about the leading heroes in video games all the time, but what about Ms. Pac Man and Princess Peach. I mean for real, ladies in video games are just as important as men, especially when they're the leading character and the heroine of the story line. If you check out the leading ladies below, you'll find out that they don't always need lipstick and eye shadow. You'll find that they prefer guns bronze. These ladies rely on their skills instead of sass.
And, personally some of these leading ladies are hotter than many of the leading men I've seen in some of the more recent video games. Come on Lara Croft versus Mario... Seriously? I'm pretty sure Ms. Croft will win that battle.
Elika - Prince Of Persia
Behind every great man is usually a significantly greater woman, and make no mistake -- Elika is a life-saver. The new Prince of Persia's indispensable ally helps our hero leap, flip and hurdle past countless obstacles, dispatch foes, solve puzzles and generally stay on the right path. Her gorgeous, cel-shaded adventure arrives just in time for your Christmas wish list.
Lara Croft - Tomb Raider Underworld
Believe it or not, this venerable action hottie has been raiding tombs for a dozen years now. And just like the ancient artifacts after which she so recklessly romps, Ms. Croft gets better with age. Catch the buxom Brit in her next adventure, the highly-anticipated Tomb Raider Underworld, this November.
Flo - Diner Dash
Serving up more treats than Wolfgang Puck and Gordon Ramsey combined, the star of the preposterously popular Diner Dash series is gaming's most accomplished restaurateur. The culinary expert is also something of an inspiration, single-handedly spawning the time-management genre by way of countless clones and several hit spinoffs. Next up: Parking Dash, featuring Flo's entrepreneurial pal, Karma.
Bayonetta - Bayonetta
Think you're having a bad hair day? At least your locks don't punch monsters in the face: just one of many follicular abilities bestowed upon Bayonetta's eponymous star. As if lethal hair wasn't tough enough, she also jumps like a ninja and sports pistols on her hands and feet. Her game isn't due out until well into next year, but this wicked witch already has gamers buzzing.
Nancy Drew
The amateur sleuth might best be known as one of literature's greatest detectives, but over the past decade, she's built an iron-clad case as gaming's most accomplished mystery-solver. Her games sell like hotcakes, routinely joining the likes of The Sims and World of Warcraft atop the PC game sales chart. Look for her latest conundrum, The Haunting of Castle Malloy, to confound store shelves on October 17th.
Faith - Mirror's Edge
Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, the nimble lead of EA's action-packed first-person game Mirror's Edge hops, skips and jumps through realistic environments on a quest to track down her missing sister. But this parkour specialist isn't afraid to get her hands dirty either, using her feet and fists to disarm guards left and right. Like her style? Get used to it, because EA's planning on turning this hot property into a trilogy.
Jojo - Jojo's Fashion Show
Auf Wiedersehen, Heidi Klum -- long lost fashion icon Jojo has returned, and the runway will never be the same. The couture queen gave gamers the gift of garb with her two best-selling Jojo's Fashion Show games, turning casual players into fierce designers overnight. No word on when we can expect a third run on the runway, but we're confident Jojo will make it work.
Sheva Alomar - Resident Evil 5
Beauty, brawn, and brains, brains, brains. She's Sheva Alomar, and she's looking to take down the zombie hordes in Capcom's upcoming frightfest, Resident Evil 5. Modeled after real-world actress Karen Dyer, the gun-toting agent will stand strong with protagonist Chris Redfield in his struggles against a burgeoning undead epidemic when the game ships in March 2009. Who knew the apocalypse could be so sexy?
