Gears of War Unleashed
November 8th 2006 07:32
Today in the US is 'Emergence Day'. That means that Microsoft's highly touted, first person, next gen shooter, Gears of War, will be released on the Xbox 360. Word is that this one is the system seller, the Halo of the 360. Early launch reviews the world over average 9.4, a significantly high medium score.
Developed by Epic Games and released exclusively on MS's new white box, Gears of War is a "pop and stop" shooter which requires use of cover tactics and teamwork to succeed, contains survival horror elements, and has been described as the best looking video game ever made.
Emergency Day in Australia is 23rd November.

umm, yeah I know, however if I recall correctly gametrailers gave GoW a 9.1, which I think hype graphics aside seems like a more realistic score. Newbie's in the reviewing biz though as you imply are in fact prone to high scores, a more pronounced example would be from IGN AUS and IGN UK, where a shoddy game like 'Just Cause' got a 6.7 from IGN and ~9.1 from IGN AU/UK. Playing the game myself I have to say I am leaning towards IGN's side, Just Cause just doesn't cut it.
ANyway, I'm sure we both agree GoW is going to be selling plenty of 360's, especially with the delay of the ps3 one wonders how Sony will ever catch up...

Anywya, it looks like Gears of War is their biggest hit thusfar, so we'll have to wait and see what happens as time goes on.
I wouldn't be surprised if every single ps3 unit is sold out on launch day, there aren't that many of them, so we'll have to wait a bit to find out what happens in the long run..
