Buy Used Games to Save Money

It's important that we save money where ever we can with today's economy, but you should not let your video game pleasures and your gaming experience suffer. There are a number of ways that you can save money and still make sure that you still get to play the coolest games that are out there. One way that you can save money playing video games is to buy used games. There are a number of means where you can get used video games for cheap, and usually they are only lightly used.
There are numerous ways to buy and trade used games, but by far the most popular is at high street game store Gamestop. Premium releases can be picked up quite soon after release for $10 or $20 less than the new price, and older games can be found much cheaper. Gamestop is listing the year-old M-rated action game Assassin’s Creed for Xbox 360 for $19.99 currently, and something even older like Marvel: Ultimate Alliance can be found for as little as $9.99. It should be noted that while the chain guarantees that games will work, they do not guarantee it will have an instruction manual, or that it will be in the original packaging.
When you’re done with your games, Gamestop will buy them back from you, but don’t be surprised if they don’t offer you very much. Sports titles, particularly, have very low trade-in value. A year-old copy of Madden can yield little more than a dollar as a trade-in.
There are other options too, however. Game rental service GameFly frequently sells off its pre-played inventory, and some bargains can be found. Currently, used copies of Super Smash Bros. Brawl can be found for $30.99, and GameFly is listing some interesting “specials” including The Simpsons Game on Wii for $20.99, and a good number of PlayStation 2 games for less than $10. Unlike Gamestop, GameFly does guarantee that its used titles will be in their original packaging, and that they will include a manual.
You can also check out the online gaming forums, as you can commonly find classifieds and trade sections that will allow you to trade off your used games with other people so that you get what games you want and they get what games that they want.
