Gaming for Life - February 2009

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II

February 27th 2009 21:05
So, I'm not much of a PC gamer, but Dawn of War II, is one of those PC games that you have to try out. It's actually much better than most PC games that I've checked out. Relic has made a few pretty bold decisions when they created the game, but for the most part the boldness of the game is what makes the game fun and entertaining.

You can build your own base and troops. You can even command your troops while in battle. Basically Warhammer 40,000 is a strategy game that is in its own world of role-playing. Essentially, you control each campaign and mission that grows and evolves into what gear you decide to equip and what skills you decide to improve. So, as you can see, you're really in control when playing Dawn of War II.

The game is divided into a campaign mode and a skirmish mode, both of which feature a multi-player option. In the campaign mode, you have the option to play cooperatively with others, and in skirmish mode you can participate in one versus one or three versus three matches against the AI opponents.

In between each mission you can swap out equipment. Your armor is boosted and you can crush the cover by just walking through it. You'll want to equip the fancy teleporter and switch out your main weapons so that you can crush your enemy in the next mission.

The switch of equipment and skill management is a little odd for this real-time strategy game, but it definitely something that adds to the game and sets it a part from other PC games of the sort.

You will find that the missions are directly related to the storyline, which means that you'll encounter seriously vicious struggle of races and action, which adds to the dynamic of the game. Personally, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II is near one of its own. You'll never have to worry about huge armies that you can't keep track of or limited resources.

You decide when and where you will fight.

There are multiple difficulty levels, so you can choose how hard you want to play.

There are three different heroes for each army, each with their own skills and abilities that will better equip the troops. There is just a lot to learn while playing the game, that you want to make sure that you keep your eyes open.

There are seven maps with the game, three 1 v 1 and four 3 v 3, the overall layouts are smaller compared to titles past and allow for fluid battles. The maps do feature structures and pathways, there are places in the maps that make it difficult to lock down certain sections of the map, such as where there may be a bottleneck in the path.

As for the fighting, there is a good bit of blood and gore, which furthers the visciousness of the game and fighting.

Hopefully, with time Relic will add to the features and the odds and ends of Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II, but for now you'll have plenty of fun and excitement when playing this strategy PC game.

Street Fighter IV Review

February 22nd 2009 20:51
Street Fighter IV is an outstanding game and probably one of the btter fighting games that you've probably played lately. Essentially, Street Fighter has been a game focused on a 2D plane, and over the years tweaks and changes have evolved the game into the formula that it is today.

Street Fighter IV allows you to pick your character and fight with another warrier in the ring. Each character has his own special moves and attacks, so you want to make sure that you try them all before you pick which character you want to use in a real battle. But, you will find that the game boils down to balancing physical skills and mind games between the characters.

Gamers of all ages can enjoy Street Fighter IV, as there are many aspects of the game that will make it enjoyable to all.

When playing Street Fighter 4, you can cancel a Focus Attack mid-charge by dashing out of it, meaning that you can play tricks on your opponent. You can even expend a portion of your Super Meter so that you can cancel a Special Move directly into a Focus Attack.

For the most part, the game is easy to get into and easy to learn.

There are two different meters that you may or may not want to keep watch on. The Super Meter fills up as you land attacks and fight, whereas the Ultra Meter builds up as you take damage. If you wait until both meters fill up, you can try a Super/Ultra Combo, otherwise if you want to try more technical moves, you can use just a quarter of your Super meter to perform Ex versions of the Special Moves.

If you're new to the Street Fighter series, you definitely want to play around a bit beforey ou get into any serious battles with opponents. There are a lot of special moves and character-specific moves that you want to have down.

The characters of Street Fighter IV are muscled and the 3D graphics make the new Street Fighter game more appealing to many.

You can purchase the game in both PS3 and Xbox 360, but you'll find the difference between the two consoles are minimal. For both consoles, you'll be surprised about how fun this fighting game really is.

February 12th 2009 18:25
Persona 4 is a role-playing game that is rated pretty high for the PlayStation 2. Basically, after an urban youth begins a year long stay in the country, the rural town's peace is shattered and a murder leaves no clues or suspects. So, after this one event occurs a new series of events and crimes start up. The youth discovers that he and his friends have the power to solve the case and bring those responsible to justice.

Help the youth bring harmony and peace back to his town. By using the cheats below, you'll be able to better your chances against what will come ahead of you.

Microsoft Points

February 10th 2009 23:06
If you have an Xbox 360, then you know how essential it is to have a LIVE account and have Microsoft Points to your account... Well, it's not essential, but it is a great asset that Microsoft included with the Xbox 360.

Unlike the online areas for Wii and PlayStation 3, the Xbox LIVE seems to be so much more advanced than the others. There are more options and features that you can download, and you can use the Microsoft Points for the marketplace as well as the Zune store.

You can purchase Microsoft Points online and at select retail stores that offer the Microsoft Point Cards. When you purchase your points, you want to make sure that you know how to redeem them.

Oh, and if you get or purchase a Microsoft Points Card, once you have put the points on your LIVE account, the card is then useless. You cannot put more points on the card or use it for any other gaming purposes.

Pokemon Diamond Cheats

February 6th 2009 22:00
Pokemon Diamond is a pretty popular demand amongst Pokemon gamers. I will admit that it's been a while since I've picked up a Pokemon game, but I'd say that to some extent they have become a little more advanced than they were back when I bought my first Pokemon Gameboy game.

Well, for Pokemon DS, there's not that much new with recent Pokemon games, but a few cheats and tips won't hurt ya to know what will give you that extra ease through the game
